The Estrellas Spa was the highlight of our recent Valentines' weekend getaway! From the meticulous ambiance to the amazing massage, the professionalism and courtesy of the staff, the spa experience was one for the history books. We are definitely coming back here again soon with a great big smile on our faces knowing how perfect everything will be:-). Amber & Mauro Metini.

Estrellas Sap is one of the hot finds in Santa Fe! Almost hate to review it and let everyone know about it. But this is a treasure to share.

In true Spa Nomad fashion I recently visited Estrellas Spa which is a boutique spa located off of the Paseo de Peralta in downtown Santa Fe. Highly recommended by a Spa colleague, Estrellas Spa offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of Canyon road and the Plaza. This unique Spa is inspired by the Hammam concept of Morocco which combines steam, sauna with body services. Definitely off the beaten track, Estrellas Spa offers refined products and services in a rustic otherworldly setting. I honestly felt transported to the streets of the Fez, as the Spa is located underground in a historic building and once you check in in the small but interesting retail area you are led down stairs past a quite sitting area with draped fabric and pillows. There are lockers to place belongings and guests are given a robe and slippers. They suggest you arrive early because the journey begins with a 15 minute steam which is no normal steam mind you! The Spa Hostess prepared a lovely concoction in a large bowl that I was to take in the steam with me. Rhassoul clay, dried coconut milk and sea salt are combined with ice and water so the guest can do a body treatment while in the steam-which was absolutely heavenly! After a quick rinse off and a sip of my cool citrus water, my therapist gathered me up and we ventured down the hall into the massage room. This evening I had chosen to receive the Moroccan Argan oil massage which was an integrative style massage using Argan oil. Believed to be one of the rarest oils in the world, Argan oil is rich in antioxidants and is traditionally used by women in Morocco as the foundation of their beauty regimen, applying it to their skin, hair and nails. Argan oil has gained an international reputation as nature’s anti-aging skin care product. It is rich in naturally occurring antioxidants, essential fatty acids, carotenoids, ferulic acid, sterols, polyphenols, and contains remarkably high levels of vitamin E. Living in Arizona my skin was appreciating every drop. My massage was exquisite and I felt that the hydrating effect of the oil lasted for days. One interesting thing that happened as the massage ended- and I think this was one of the greatest things- the electricity went out in all of downtown Santa Fe leaving the Spa quite and candle lit. I emerged from my massage room and walked through the candle lined hallway to enjoy the cushy relaxation area where I sipped tea and came back to earth. I authentically felt as if I was in another land- in the small stone passage ways of an ancient magical city. To be transported like that was truly an unexpected gift and I believe of of the sweetest aspects to this very special Spa. A great get away while needing a break from the tourist circuit, a lovely place for couples or small intimate spa parties, Estrellas Spa is certainly a place I will return to!
